10 initiatives
for prosperity

The 2023 agenda of the Sea of Cortez Forum addresses everything from innovation and biodiversity to talent and sustainable business.

From the first days of the year, we began to form the teams for each of the 10 challenges that we set ourselves and that are aligned with the purpose of the organization: prosperity.

From innovation, conservation and regeneration of biodiversity, cultivation of talent and the promotion of sustainable enterprises, each of the initiatives will have Leaders, who with their vocation of service and credibility will provide the energy required to move forward.

What are we going to do?
Here are the 10 Initiatives of the Sea of Cortez Forum 2023.

1. Healthy ecosystems

Leader: José Antonio Díaz Quintanar

HOUSEKEEPING. Nature provides vital services for human subsistence, such as food products and the quality of the air we breathe. Cleaning, conserving and regenerating them is now a priority.

1A - Zero plastic
Removal of plastics from the sea, beaches and agricultural areas. This will be a simultaneous action in the 5 states of the region.

1B - Trees against carbon
Planting trees in strategic public spaces in the main cities of the region to strengthen the green infrastructure that captures carbon. This will improve the capacity to reduce the proliferation of CO2.

Biodiversity

Leader: Amado Guzmán Reynaud

GUARANTEE THE FOOD SUPPLY. Regeneration of marine species through innovative practices, as well as dialogue and cooperation among the sectors involved in fishing.

2A - Artificial Reefs
Create coral reefs by sinking structures, such as a ship, train car or airplane, for example, whose useful life has ended. This helps the regeneration of marine species and reduces pressure on overexploited ecosystems through resource extraction and diving.

2B - Re-focusing of fishing effort
Implementation of spaces for dialogue to agree on actions and responsibilities that balance the number of fishermen with the amount of product available in the sea.

Leader: Jorge González Frías

BUSINESS THAT LASTS. Advice and support for the certification of companies in the Sea of Cortez Region in the Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs comprise three dimensions: human, environmental and economic.
