Women promote sustainable development in rural communities
Grupo Murlota, a venture founded by women, stands out as a project of social innovation and environmental commitment in the poultry sector.

In a joint effort to improve living conditions in underprivileged rural communities, the following was created Murlota Groupan initiative undertaken by women which has evolved since its inception in 2005 and which has become an example of sustainable development.

This project, born from a master's thesis entitled: "Effect of microcredit on the quality of life in poor rural communities." and the initiative took shape as "Rural Women from Lomas de Tepemecatl el Ajusco D.F."The Murlota Group's website highlights.

In 2012, this project was consolidated with the creation of the "Comercializadora Agropecuaria MURLOTA SPR".in conjunction with the Civil Association "Mujeres Produciendo con Huevos" (Women Producing with Eggs). Its mission is focused on equitably and efficiently combining human, financial and natural resources to promote research, development and innovation, in pursuit of increased productivity and economic growth. sustainable community development.

The Murlota Group aims to become the main reference for local development and territorial innovation, promoting sustainable and socially responsible companiesunder the principles of the green economy and technology for food sovereignty.

Grupo Murlota's Social Innovation model involves four main actors:

  • Society: The beneficiaries are mainly vulnerable populations, including the elderly, people with disabilities, women, young people and even children in rural areas of Mexico.
  • Companies: Strategic alliances are established with local private companies to support the beneficiaries of the programs.
  • Government: There is collaboration with local, municipal, state and federal governments, especially through Research and Development Centers for New Poultry Businesses.
  • NGOs and Academia: The linkage with Non-Governmental Organizations and educational institutions at different levels (secondary, high school and higher education) provides multidisciplinary support for research projects.

Murlota Farms is dedicated to developing sustainable microenterprise poultry production systems, without environmental impact and with high animal welfare. Its approach seeks to improve the quality of life in highly marginalized areas, strengthening food security and generating economic benefits through the sale of eggs.

The main objective is to establish family production units for backyard poultry management, thus increasing the availability of protein-rich food for rural families in marginalized areas.

The Murlota eggs stand out for their quality and health benefits. Its organic production and the dignified treatment of the poultry guarantee a product with more protein and good cholesterol, contributing significantly to the quality of life of both producing and consuming families, in a socially responsible approach.

In addition, studies show that Murlota eggs have higher average protein values compared to other types of eggs, and their thicker shell retains freshness longer. The flavor of these eggs is associated with traditional production practices and free-range feeding of the birds.
