With a focus on the importance of cities on the road to a future of prosperity, from Wednesday, November 13 to Friday, November 15, will be held at Los CabosBaja California Sur, on Summit 2024 that organizes Sea of Cortez Forum.
The fourth summit of this non-profit civil society organization, which has as its theme Cities with a future. No fear of actionwill be held at the Hacienda del Mar hotel, where 50 prominent speakers will discuss solutions to the environmental and social challenges facing the urban areas of Latin America and the Caribbean. Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa y Sonora.
Today, cities are home to more than half of the world's population and are engines of the economy, innovation and culture, but they are also responsible for much of the world's resource consumption and polluting emissions.
In the case of the region, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa and Sonora total almost 12 million inhabitants, that is, 9% of Mexico's population, without considering the intense floating population of Tijuana, Los Cabos or Mazatlan, for example.
Of this total, 7 out of 10 people are concentrated in 13 cities in the region.
Therefore, the Summit 2024 will emphasize the urgent need for a planning and sustainable urban management that allows cities to become spaces of change and resilience.
Among the speakers are renowned figures such as Enrique Krauze, Bismarck Lepe, Christy Walton, Dennis Frenchman, Cynthia Barzuna y María Elena Morerawho, together with leaders from the five states of the Sea of Cortés regionwill discuss strategies to turn urban challenges into opportunities.
The event will have 9 conferences, 5 talks, 3 panels, 5 lectures, 2 case studies, 2 memorable experiences and an art exhibition.
