Sea of Cortez Forum presents route to 2040

José Antonio Díaz Quintanar presents the 12 dreams that will guide the civil organization in the construction of inclusive economic development with respect for nature and in favor of people.

The founding donor of this civic organization and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CaffenioThe vision for the future of the company, he said, is to Sea of Cortés Region is divided into three axes: environment, economic development and social and human development, with four postulates for each of them.

"From the regeneration of the environment, we seek that the marine ecosystem of each region (in 2040) is used for tourism purposes in an intensive, dynamic way, but with respect and harmony with our environment," he said.

In addition, sustainable food production should be increased by 2040, applying new fishing and agricultural techniques, taking advantage of technological advances, and the region's companies should operate under high standards of sustainability and respect for the environment.

In the area of economic development, Diaz Quintanar emphasized that the Sea of Cortés Region will become an important pole of attraction for talent, generating a surplus.

"One thing we have found that is indispensable is continuity in the economic development projects that we have in our cities and in our states," he said, "One role we can play is to make sure that those projects that are very good are carried out."

The Sonora businessman emphasized that economic development must seek equality.

"We are looking for equal development, because there are many marginalized people who do not have opportunities. We have to find a way for those marginalized people in extreme poverty to get out of there and for economic development to reach them as well," he stressed.

Díaz Quintanar considered that a key element to achieve economic development is to put an end to impunity, because without the rule of law there is no confidence and therefore no investment or jobs.

Of the 12 dreams that guide Sea of Cortez Forumthe one he considered most important was that of the civic participation people, because that's what makes the difference.
