The companies of the Sea of Cortés Region will be able to contribute to the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN, through System B Mexicowhich has signed a collaboration agreement with Sea of Cortez Forum during the Summit 2022 Mission Prosperity made in Los CabosBaja California Sur.
Javier HerreroB Lab and Sistema B Mexico representative, explained that B Lab and the United Nations Global Compact developed the tool SDG Action Managerwhich was conceived to provide all types of companies with the opportunity to learn, manage and directly improve their sustainability performance.
"We considered that it was important for companies to be able to identify the Sustainable Development Goals where they can generate a better impact based on their business sector, the number of workers they have or the place where they are located. This tool makes it possible to identify the SDGs," he said.
The representative of Sistema B Mexico explained that there are more than 4.8 million companies in the country, according to the Ministry of Economy, of which around 100 are working with this concept.
"What we are looking for from the B Movement is that more and more companies self-regulate and can have a behavior like that of the B Companies, for this we created precisely this tool, the SDG Action Manager, together with the Global Compact," he said.
What Sistema B is doing, he said, is helping companies to measure and improve their social and environmental impact with the same rigor with which they already measure their financial impact.
"We have companies that have already created a business model that is generating relevant social and environmental impact on those issues that we recognize," he shared.
After signing the agreement, Radames Diaz MezaChief Executive Officer of Sea of Cortez Forumsaid that this alliance with Sistema B originated from a proposal made by actor and environmentalist Miguel Rodarte Espinosa de los Monteros at Summit 2021.
"We didn't turn a deaf ear, Miguel didn't hear about it, but he introduced us to Felipe Sánchez Navarro and we started the journey with Javier (Herrero) and we made this happen, so things happen at Foro Mar de Cortés," he said.
The agreement was signed by Radamés Díaz Meza, Juan Pablo Yamuni Robles, General Director of Foro Mar de Cortés, and Javier Herrero, and was witnessed by Miguel Rodarte and Francisco Loubet.
