Iliana Padilla Reyes to speak on regional security panel at Summit 2024

The researcher and professor will participate in the Panel on Security with a focus on the Sea of Cortez Region where Khublai Villafuerte and Marcos Vizcarra will also participate.

The security and social challenges in the Sea of Cortez Region will be the main focus of a panel of experts that will be held during the Summit 2024 Cities with a Future. No fear of actionwhich will take place from November 13 to 15 at Los CabosBaja California Sur.

Iliana del Rocio Padilla Reyesrenowned researcher and lecturer, will participate in the Panel on Security with a focus on the Sea of Cortez Regiontogether with Khublai Villafuerte Molinaa specialist in social, political, economic and security intelligence, and the prominent journalist Marcos Vizcarra RuizReforma correspondent in Sinaloa and contributor to Revista ESPEJO. The panel will be moderated by Marco Antonio Paz Pellatconsultant in public policy and government innovation.

Padilla Reyes holds a Ph.D. in Regional Studies with emphasis on North America from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa and is currently a career professor in the International Business degree program at the University of California, Berkeley. National School of Higher Education (ENES) Juriquilla Unit of the UNAM.

With a solid track record in research, Padilla is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), level I, and actively collaborates with the University Observatory of International Business (OUNI) on regional development and human security issues.

In addition, she has been a guest lecturer at prestigious international institutions, such as the International Forum for U.S. Studies of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) in Mexico and the Center for Legal and Criminological Research of the Autonomous University of Querétaro.

The researcher is a member of the group of experts from The Global Initiative Against Transnational Crime (GI - TOC), a Geneva-based organization that seeks to generate innovative solutions against organized crime worldwide.

In the panel, speakers will discuss the security challenges facing the Sea of Cortez states, a region with important development dynamics, but also marked by violence and other social problems.
