Agustín Coppel calls for a qualitative and profound change in the leadership of the Sea of Cortez Region.

At the inauguration of the Summit 2023 Prosperity: Possible Purpose, the Honorary President of the Sea of Cortez Forum invited businessmen, academics, civil society and politicians to be the leaders that the moment demands.

Los Cabos, BCS. November 8, 2023. At the inauguration of the Summit 2023 Prosperity: A Possible Purpose, Agustin Coppel Luken said that in order to reach the prosperity in the Sea of Cortez Region it is necessary to generate a qualitative and substantive change in the regional leaderships.

The Honorary President of the civil organization Sea of Cortez Forum invited businessmen, academics, civil society and politicians to learn to be the leaders required by the moment they are going through. Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa y Sonora.

Without leaders, he said, different businesses and human associations generally do not function well. But not just anyone who holds a position of managerial responsibility automatically becomes a constructive leader.

Three characteristics of a leader, according to Agustín Coppel

Coppel Luken described three important characteristics to become a good leader.

"First of all, personal leadership manifests itself in an extraordinary liabilityHe said, "It is a special and, in a certain way, disproportionate. Responsibility is an inherent capacity of human beings," he said.

A second characteristic of leadership is the radical dissatisfactionHe added, since an authentic leader is in a permanent state of dissatisfaction, does not rejoice in what has already been achieved and lives alert and pending of what is yet to be achieved.

Quoting Ortega y Gasett, Coppel Luken said that this radical dissatisfaction is what produces the desire to transform an adverse, difficult and insufficient reality for everyone.

"The circumstances we are living in the Sea of Cortez make us realize the need to ask for help in the face of the challenges. We know that we need to appeal to our intelligence and that we all have the temporal limitation of life, so we have to think about the legacy we are inheriting," he stressed.

The Honorary President of Sea of Cortez Forum The third feature, he said, is the acknowledgment that others grant to those who in certain positions, functions and circumstances are capable of assuming greater responsibilities, especially if these become uncomfortable, adverse and demanding of an extraordinary effort to be able to move forward.

"In that sense, during these conferences and dialogues we will become aware of the urgency of a greater commitment in all of us to be able to face the challenges that we face in our political, business and institutional roles in our region to overcome everything that affects the prosperity of the Sea of Cortez," he said.

Ottis is a call for reflection

In his message, Agustin Coppel Luken expressed his solidarity with the people affected by the Hurricane Ottis that lashed Acapulco.

"As inhabitants of a coastal region, we understand how complicated the impact of a hurricane like Ottis is. We understand that what is happening there also forces us to reflect on what we do not want to happen and, above all, what we aspire to for the communities of our Mar de Cortés region," he said.

What happened in Guerrero made it clear that it is necessary to urban growth The company has planned very well, taking into account these natural phenomena and the impact they can have on public services, on the towns, on the popular neighborhoods and on our natural environment, he said.

That is why in this Summit 2023 Prosperity: A Possible Purpose public services, urban planning, ecosystem care, security, education and foreign investment will be on the agenda.
