Alejandro Robles Gonzalez, 40 years studying the Sea of Cortez

The president of NOS Noroeste Sustentable will be a key player at the Sea of Cortez Forum's Summit 2022 Mission Prosperity.

Backed by 40 years of experience knowing the Sea of Cortez and its riches, Alejandro Robles Gonzalez will be one of the high-profile voices that will participate in the Summit 2022 Mission Prosperity that organizes Sea of Cortez Forumwhich will be held from November 16 to 18, 2010 at Los CabosBaja California Sur.

The Biochemical Engineer from ITESM will be a moderator in the Sustainable Seafood Production panelin which the following will participate Christy Walton, Amado Guzman, José Luis Carrillo Galaz y Miguel Angel Cisneros Mata.

Robles González will also present the project of the Prosperity Monitoring Center in the Sea of CortezThe Dona Model, an instrument based on the Dona Model, is intended to create indicators for the generation of prosperity for all, but giving the planet the opportunity to regenerate itself, using resources wisely.

Among Robles Gonzalez's outstanding work is the study of totoaba and vaquita in the Upper Gulf of California and his participation in the Cousteau Society's documentary Legacy of Cortez (1987).

He worked at the Secretariat of Fisheries as head of the Fleet and Fishing Industry Program and as national coordinator of the Sardine and Anchovy Program.

From 1992 to 2004 he was executive director of CI's Gulf of California program, executive director of the Mexico Program and vice president for Mexico and Central America, Washington DC.

He collaborated in the creation of the Upper Gulf of California Reserve and received the 1993 National Conservation Award from Pronatura. He is a graduate of the Leadership for Environment and Development program.

In 2000 he received the Pew Marine Conservation Fellowship Award.

He is co-author of the book The Sea of Cortez: A Space with a Future.

He is president of NOS Sustainable Northwest A.C. and member of the expert group High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy.
