The Federal Electricity Commission announced that in order to develop clean energies 150 million loan to the Mexican government's credit institution, the French Development Agency (AFD) for the construction of the first Floating Solar Power Plant (FVP) of Mexico, which could be installed in northern Mexico. Sinaloa or in Coahuila.
The state-owned company indicated that this project will increase the generation capacity of renewable energy The project is expected to generate more than 120 MW and promises a low environmental and social impact, while helping to compensate for the decrease in hydroelectric generation during times of drought and favoring water savings during the day.
"The possible sites for the power plant are located in the north of the state of Sinaloa, and/or north of the state of Coahuila. The projects are in the process of defining the engineering at feasibility level," informed the CFE in a press release.
In addition to the loan, AFD granted a donation of 800 thousand euros for technical cooperation, with the objective of improving the planning, evaluation and integration of renewable energy plants in the country. National Electric System.
This work will be carried out in collaboration with the French company "Red de Transporte de Electricidad" (RTE) and the Subsidiary Productive Company "CFE Transmisión", under the supervision of the Corporate Directorate of Operations and the Corporate Directorate of Strategic Planning of CFE.
Technical cooperation will include the review of transmission process management activities to formulate technical loss reduction strategies, analysis of flexible FACTS models and systems, and energy storage in transmission networks.
The monitoring of transmission lines by drones and energy storage for substation services and relay power supply will also be implemented.
It should be noted that the collaboration between CFE and AFD has allowed the development of important renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Technical assistance from French institutions has been crucial to modernize and make CFE's processes more efficient, the public company assured.
