The social activist María Elena Morera Mitrepresident of Citizens for a Common Cause A.C.will be present at the Summit 2024 Cities with a Future. No fear of actionorganized by Sea of Cortez Forumwhich will be held from November 13 to 15, 2010 at Los CabosBaja California Sur.
At this event, which will bring together leaders and citizens committed to the sustainable development of the Mexican cities, Morera Mitre will participate in the Conversation How to assume our responsibility to achieve peace. In this space, he will share his experience and points of view together with Agustin Coppel LukenHonorary President of the Sea of Cortez Forum.
Morera Mitre is an outstanding figure in the fight for security, justice and citizen participation. Since 2001, he has worked in the defense of rights and freedoms, with a particular focus on the evaluation of police development and security in Mexico, being his organization, Ciudadanos por una Causa en Común, the only one in the country that monitors these indicators in all states.
His career has been marked by his leadership in civil society organizations. He chaired Mexico United Against Delinquency A.C. from 2003 to 2009, and currently heads Ciudadanos por una Causa en Común, A.C., an organization founded in 2010 and recognized for its fight in favor of victims' rights and transparency in institutions. She is also president of Horizonte y Oportunidad A.C. since 2009.
The activist has also received multiple awards for her social commitment. In 2014, she received the Social Leader Award by the Fundación Social Compartir, and in 2019, Siempre magazine awarded it the José Pagés Llergo" National Communication Award for its work in defense of citizens' rights.
Morera Mitre has promoted transcendental laws such as the General Law on Attention to Victims and the National Anticorruption Systemand called for the historic march for security in 2004.
