Ildefonso Guajardo Villarrealwho from 2012 to 2018 was Secretary of Economy from Mexicowill participate in the Summit 2023 Prosperity: A Possible Purposewhich will be organizing Sea of Cortez Forum from November 8 to 10, at Los Cabos Baja California Sur.

Guajardo Villarreal holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leonholds a master's degree in economics from the Arizona State University and holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Track record in public service

From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Guajardo served as a Federal Deputyfrom 2003 to 2006, he was head of the Government Office of Nuevo León and from 2006 to 2009 he was a local legislator in that state.

From 2009 to 2012 he returned to the federal Chamber of Deputies and from 2012 to 2018 he was head of the Ministry of Economy of the Government of Mexico.

"From the Ministry of Economy, we managed to generate 4 million new jobs and lead trade negotiations that allowed Mexico to become the fourth largest seller in the world in automobiles, televisions, aeronautics and other products," he highlights in his biography.

In addition, he headed the Mexican team that negotiated the new TMEC with the United States and Canada.

Guajardo Villarreal has experience in different areas of public service, such as programming and budgeting, foreign affairs, trade and industrial development, tourism and economics.
